The product

A reviewed ending for
unfinished research.

Tab Checkout takes a point-in-time snapshot, builds a source-linked close plan, saves an internally checked receipt, and only then touches approved eligible tabs.

Outcome

Northstar Air 14 is the current fit. Keep the live price, configuration, checkout, and unresolved battery comparison open.

The sequence matters

Snapshot → reason → receipt → close.

The destructive action is deliberately last. If analysis, persistence, or review fails, nothing closes.

INPUT

One selected window

Choose the current window or a specific selection. Tab Checkout records ordering and safety-relevant browser metadata when you ask.

OUTPUT

One durable receipt

Keep titles, URLs, reasoning, cited facts, reviewed decisions, close/restore outcomes, and integrity values linked to a separate snapshot.

ACTION

Only approved closure

Close IDs from the reviewed plan. Anything unknown, risky, stale, or no longer present stays untouched.

What the first useful version does.

It finishes one browser research session. It does not organize your whole life, watch every page, or pretend it understands unfinished work.

  • Captures a selected Chrome window or explicit tab selection.
  • Uses readable capture by default, with titles-only available.
  • Optionally extracts readable page content on demand.
  • Redacts known sensitive patterns before remote analysis.
  • Shows a reason for every proposed action and exact source quotes for cited facts.
  • Requires bulk confirmation that proposed closes were reviewed as URL-reopenable sources; completion is not inferred.
  • Persists the snapshot and receipt before close begins.
  • Exports strict JSON and readable Markdown.

Fail-closed decisions

A cautious default for every tab.

Analysis can suggest. Deterministic rules decide whether a tab is even eligible for closure.

Dirty form or editorKeepUnsaved input is unfinished state, not a safe closure target.
Pinned tabKeepPinned is already an explicit user decision.
Audible tabKeepPlayback or a live call should never be interrupted.
Active tabReviewBeing the current tab alone is not evidence of unsaved state.
Incognito tabUnsupportedThe current manifest does not run in incognito.
Unsupported URLKeepInternal and unknown schemes are not safe closure targets.
Ordinary cited sourceReviewOnly a supported tab with no detected risk can be proposed for approval.

The handoff

A receipt that can outlive the browser session.

The receipt is useful without Tab Checkout. Export it, diff it, inspect it, or feed it into your own tools. The open schema is the portability layer.

  • Stable schema version and strict validation.
  • Snapshot and full-payload integrity hashes.
  • Every cited fact names its source tab and retains a bounded quote.
  • Distinct outcome sets reveal what closed, failed, disappeared, remained uncertain, or was reopened.

Receipt first. Close second.
